Hotel Costiera: The Real Positano of Villa Treville
Hotel Costiera, the Prime Video series with Jesse Williams, is filmed at Villa Treville, Positano: the real hotel and Maestro's restaurant.
Hotel Costiera, the Prime Video original series starring Jesse Williams, released September 24, 2025, chose the Amalfi Coast as the setting for a story of luxury and mystery. And like The White Lotus, the hotel in the title isn’t a built set: it’s a real five-star hotel, still open to guests today.
Villa Treville, the real Hotel Costiera
The show’s fictional hotel is Villa Treville, a clifftop luxury property in Positano, a short distance from the town centre. The villa has a fascinating past: for years it was the private residence of director Franco Zeffirelli, whose artistic legacy still lingers among the gardens and spaces of the property, today transformed into one of the coast’s most exclusive hotels.
Maestro’s, the villa’s real restaurant
Unlike much of fiction, the food here is verifiable too: the villa’s gourmet restaurant is called Maestro’s, led by chef Vincenzo Castaldo with input from Michelin-starred chef Antonio Mellino. The cuisine is km0, with ingredients grown in the property’s own gardens, served on the restaurant’s panoramic terrace, in the legendary Bianca Salon with the Bianca Bar, or at the new Botanical Bar.
The plot and setting
In the show, Jesse Williams plays Daniel De Luca, a former Marine of Italian descent working as a “problem solver” at one of the world’s most luxurious hotels, on the trail of the owner’s missing daughter. Six episodes, all released together on launch day.
What to eat on the Amalfi Coast
Beyond Maestro’s, Positano and its surroundings are home to cuisine that smells of lemons: scialatielli with seafood, lemon delizia, sfusato amalfitano lemons, and fresh Tyrrhenian fish — exactly the flavours also celebrated in our guide on the Amalfi Coast in Ripley.
In short
Hotel Costiera is another example of how fiction, on the Amalfi Coast, often overlaps with real, bookable places: Villa Treville and its Maestro’s are still there, waiting for anyone who wants to live the scene in real life. Discover other films and shows shot in Italy on our site.
