Running to You: dinner at Del Cambio

Favino and Miriam Leone dine at Turin's Del Cambio in Corro da te: the historic restaurant on Piazza Carignano, open since 1757.

The historic dining room of Ristorante Del Cambio on Piazza Carignano in Turin

Riccardo Milani’s Corro da te (Running to You) is a romantic comedy that uses Turin as an elegant backdrop. Shot in the city in February 2020 and released in cinemas in March 2022, it pairs Pierfrancesco Favino, a serial seducer pretending to use a wheelchair, with Miriam Leone, a paraplegic musician who changes how he sees himself.

Turin, the film’s city

Filming took place with the support of the Film Commission Torino Piemonte, which documented the locations. The couple’s route runs between two landmarks of royal Turin a short walk apart: the Teatro Regio, where Chiara performs, and Ristorante Del Cambio, where the two go for dinner straight afterwards.

Dinner at Del Cambio

Del Cambio has been open since 1757 on Piazza Carignano, opposite the Teatro Carignano: one of the oldest historic restaurants in Italy still in business. Its 19th-century rooms — mirrors, gilded stucco, red velvet — are unchanged, and are exactly what you see in the film. Today the restaurant holds a Michelin star and serves contemporary Piedmontese cuisine.

In the scene, as the Italian locations portal describes it, Gianni takes Chiara to dinner after the concert and the couple dine amused by his clumsiness — a light moment that is also where the character’s pretence starts to crack.

An evening following the film

Piazza Carignano is the heart of stately Turin: Piazza Castello, the Egyptian Museum and the Galleria Subalpina are all minutes away on foot. Anyone wanting to retrace the film’s route can pair a performance at the Teatro Regio with dinner at Del Cambio — the two are less than ten minutes apart. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and booking is recommended.

In short

Few Italian cities have a restaurant that tells their story the way Del Cambio tells Turin’s. Corro da te made it the stage for a dinner, and that stage is still there, open every evening. Discover more films and shows shot in Italy.
